Infinity Ward says the time-to-kill in the Modern Warfare 4 beta is now closer to its target after weapon changes, but...

Infinity Ward states the time-to-kill (TTK) in Modern Warfare 4 is now much closer to its intended target following recent weapon changes in the beta. The developer made the comment in patch notes posted a day before the open beta ends on Sept. 1 at 10am PT. For a full list of the changes, you can check our detailed fixtures page.

We feel that TTK on average is much closer to where we wanted it to be after Weekend 1, Infinity Ward said. The studio added it is still reviewing player feedback and gameplay data, with room to fine-tune individual weapons before the full launch on Oct. 23. This data is part of our ongoing stats tracking for the beta.

Player and Creator Reactions

While Infinity Ward believes the current TTK is in a better place, some players and content creators argue the changes have gone too far. Popular Call of Duty creator JGOD said he personally finds the Multiplayer TTK too slow.

Another creator, Doughnuts, was more critical. He argued that Infinity Ward had previously done an excellent job making weapons feel powerful and satisfying during the first beta weekend, but said that changed. They utterly ruined that with Weekend 2. Each gun feeling useless, weak, and unsatisfying, Doughnuts stressed.

Community Division on Reddit

Some MW4 players on Reddit have also complained about the slower TTK. One user questioned refunding their preorder, citing issues with TTK and hit registration. Another player expressed shock at the change, stating it took five body hits to eliminate an opponent with a specific weapon after the patch and pleading for a return to three hits.

However, the community isn't completely against the current system. Other players have said they are satisfied with how quickly weapons currently eliminate opponents, indicating a division in the player base.

Other Beta Concerns

TTK is just one of several talking points surrounding the Modern Warfare 4 Beta. Players have also continued to question the game's matchmaking system and what they perceive as the return of skill-based matchmaking (SBMM).

Infinity Ward gets more than a month to analyze all player feedback and make additional adjustments before Modern Warfare 4 launches worldwide on October 23.
