Virtus.pro has dissolved its Dota 2 team following a failure to qualify for The International 2026. The organization confirmed it will remain in the scene despite three consecutive years of missing the world championship.
Virtus.pro has disbanded its Dota 2 roster after The International 2026 following a disappointing season. The longstanding esports organization, though, has reaffirmed its commitment to Valve’s MOBA title.
According to Dot Esports, the organization announced the decision after the team failed to meet its goals throughout the 2025-2026 Dota 2 season. The Russian org stated that the roster results fell short of the expectations of the club, its fans, and the players. These individuals joined the team with ambitions of competing for trophies. In a formal statement, VP noted that they appreciated the work the team put in during this time but believed changes were necessary in the current situation. Consequently, the club decided to part ways with the current roster.

Season performance and TI qualification struggles
Virtus.pro’s international roster began taking shape in September last year. The org brought in the ex-Shopify Rebellion core of Fly, Abed, and SaberLight after missing out on The International for the second consecutive year. However, veteran captain Fly and his crew struggled to produce consistent results at tier 1 tournaments during the season.
The team’s best finish came at DreamLeague Season 27, where they placed seventh-eighth. They ended up last at FISSURE Playground 2 and failed to reach the playoffs at ESL One Birmingham and PGL Wallachia Season 8.
Virtus.pro’s struggles ultimately extended to the TI 2026 European qualifiers. The squad reached the upper bracket qualifying match but lost 1-2 to eventual TI runners-up TEAM VISION. VP then faced HULIGANI in the lower bracket decider but suffered another 1-2 defeat. This ended their hopes of reaching the year’s biggest Dota 2 tournament, where Team Spirit made history as the first organization to claim a third Aegis of Champions. This marked the third straight time the org failed to qualify for TI.
The team last competed at the Esports World Cup 2026, where they crashed out of the Survival Stage after losing to Rune Eaters.
Future of the organization
Despite disbanding its current roster, Virtus.pro said it has no plans to leave the Dota 2 scene. The org has been competing in the MOBA title since 2012 and has achieved a record five Major championships, though it has yet to win at TI.
org stated that Virtus.pro remain committed to Dota 2. They claimed the title has always held a special place for their club and they will continue working toward returning with a team capable of competing at the highest level.
