GTA 6 PlayStation Store Update Lists Sex Scenes Rating

Updated PlayStation Store listings in Australia and New Zealand for GTA 6 explicitly mention 'sex scenes' in the age rating.

Updated PlayStation Store listings in Australia and New Zealand for GTA 6 explicitly mention 'sex scenes' in the age rating

PlayStation's Australian and New Zealand store pages for GTA 6 now list 'sex scenes' in the age rating. This is a more detailed descriptor than the generic 'Sex' label used for GTA 5. The game's store page in the region was updated to include the official age rating. The biggest change is the specific wording. GTA 5's rating description mentions 'Sex' generally. It makes no mention of sex scenes despite at least one instance in the game. The Oceania listing confirms that 'Sex' features in the game. PlayStation’s official Australian page also states that GTA 6’s age rating is unconfirmed.

Global ratings show regional differences

GTA 6 has an official M for Mature rating from the ESRB in the US. It has a PEGI 18 rating in the UK. The UK and USA PlayStation stores were also updated. They have similar ratings but do not include the same descriptive details as Oceania. The ESRB lists seven content descriptors for GTA 6.

The ESRB rating also includes an in-game purchases notice. Rockstar has stated it is not planning microtransactions for the main game. Some speculate the notice refers to extra content in the premium edition. Others expect it to be tied to an online mode not yet shown. GTA 5, released in 2013, also received an M rating from the ESRB. Its descriptors were the same as those now attached to GTA 6. The rating alone does not suggest GTA 6 is more explicit than its predecessor.

Narrative focus fuels speculation

Trailers have shown intimate moments between the two leads, Jason and Lucia. A romantic storyline appears to be part of GTA 6. Rockstar North co-head Rob Nelson discussed giving players flexibility over the romantic relationship. He reportedly told IGN: "If you are into it as a concept, it feels great. Don’t bother with it if you aren’t. Up to you." Jason and Lucia are the central protagonists. Their partnership is central to the story. Players may strengthen their bond through activities outside major missions. This includes spending time together and communicating. The precise mechanics and consequences for the relationship system remain unclear. GTA 6's sex scenes may be more focused due to this central romance. Various trailers have shown sensual, intimate scenes between the two.

Uncertainty remains over content and classification

The ESRB has not yet published its full written summary for GTA 6. It is unclear how ratings boards determine what constitutes inclusion of sex scenes in descriptions. It is also unclear if scripted sex scenes are treated differently from player-initiated interactions. Rockstar has not publicly confirmed that GTA 6 will contain explicit sex scenes. The store page update is treated as a significant clue, not definitive proof. These fan speculations are not confirmed features. Rockstar has not issued an official classification or direct statement to settle the speculation. It is unclear if ratings boards have evolved their language since GTA 5's release. It is unclear if GTA 6 will feature more scripted, detailed sex scenes. The general description for GTA 5 may reference the ability to pick up sex workers. That remains unclear.

Players await official clarification from Rockstar or ratings boards. The game is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026.
