Fnatic ends Worlds, Champions streaks

Fnatic will miss the 2026 League of Legends World Championship and the 2026 VALORANT Champions event, breaking significant appearance streaks for the organization. According to a report from esports.gg, the European esports mainstay failed to qualify for both premier tournaments following disappointing regular season performances. League of Legends team misses Worlds

The organization's League of Legends team saw its nine-year streak of consecutive Worlds appearances come to an end. Fnatic needed to finish sixth or higher in the 10-team LEC 2026 Summer regular season to reach playoffs and have a shot at qualification.

They finished seventh.

Fnatic ended the regular season with a record of three wins and six losses, a full breakdown of which is available in the league stats. Their three victories came against long-time rivals G2 Esports, as well as bottom teams Shifters and SK Gaming. They lost series to all other opponents. A do-or-die match against GIANTX sealed their fate, confirming their absence from the 2026 World Championship.

This marks only the third time Fnatic has missed the tournament since its inception, having previously been absent in 2012 and 2016. The organization won the inaugural World Championship in 2011. They were the only team in the LEC region to hold such a lengthy active streak of Worlds appearances.

VALORANT squad fails Champions qualification

Fnatic's VALORANT team has missed the Champions event for the first time since the VALORANT Champions Tour began in 2021. Their streak of attending every Champions tournament is now over.

The team's performance in the VCT EMEA 2026 Stage 2 was described as disappointing. They finished fifth out of six teams in their group, forcing them into a Play-In stage against Challenger league teams. This left them well outside the qualification spots shown on the global standings.

There, they were eliminated from contention for both the playoffs and the Champions event after losses to Challenger sides Enterprise Esports and Joblife. This elimination follows their runner-up finish at the previous year's Champions event, where they lost to NRG.

Looking ahead

The report notes that fans will not see wacky walkouts from team captain Jake "Boaster" Howlett at this year's Champions tournament. Both Fnatic's competitive divisions must now look ahead to the 2027 season for another chance at international glory.
