Fortnitemares 2026 Launches with Five Nights at Freddy's
Epic Games has launched the Fortnitemares 2026 Halloween event, headlined by a Five Nights at Freddy's collaboration featuring a new POI and cosmetics.

Fortnitemares 2026 is now live, bringing the complete Five Nights at Freddy's collaboration to Fortnite Battle Royale. The Halloween event introduces a new Point of Interest where players can fight animatronics and unlock unique abilities.
Construction of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza is completed. Players can now visit this POI, where the animatronics move when not being looked at. Defeating them allows a player to possess an animatronic and terrorize the map. The entire Five Nights at Freddy’s cosmetic collection is also available for purchase in the Item Shop. The location offers jump scares and a creepy atmosphere.
Nightmare on Elm Street and other horror collabs arrive alongside FNAF
Fortnitemares 2026 includes a Freddy Krueger boss fight and multiple teased horror collaborations. Players can encounter the Freddy Krueger boss on Elm Street within the new Nightmare Neighborhood POI. Defeating him grants the Freddy’s Nightmare ability, which comes with claws that allow teleportation and slashing attacks.
Epic Games has confirmed a wide array of additional collaborations are coming. The teased list includes A Nightmare on Elm Street, Black Clover, Hollow Knight, 99 Nights in the Forest, The Purge, Obsession, Slender Man, Beetlejuice, Predator: Badlands, and a Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights crossover. Collaborations like Hazbin Hotel are also confirmed to be arriving alongside the event. Further crossovers may be announced throughout October.
New cosmetics, weapons and gameplay changes debut in the update
Players can buy FNAF-themed gear, encounter new weapons, and use updated Overrides as part of the Fortnitemares 2026 patch. A new SMG and a new melee weapon have been added to the loot pool. The Rebecca's Guns SMG received a damage buff, followed by reductions to its spread and recoil.
The update also introduces new Fortnite Overrides, which are match-specific mechanics players select in rounds. These include going invisible when reloading, refreshed props for prop hunt, and extra shield. Some are Halloween re-themes of existing mechanics, like pumpkin rocket ammo. A new batch of sprites was added to the game. Returning Halloween items can be obtained through Fortnite loot hacks by extracting sprites and spending dust.
Here are the confirmed prices for the Five Nights at Freddy's cosmetic items:

Event details and timing confirm limited-time Halloween takeover
Fortnitemares 2026 began after server downtime on October 1, corresponding to patch version v42.30. Servers came back online following expected downtime between 11am and 12pm UK time. The update typically takes a couple of hours to go live.
The event lasts for one month, replacing the current season's theme with Halloween content. It includes updates to other game modes beyond Battle Royale, such as the OG mode, and brings bug fixes. The loot pool sees the return of Quack Snacks to help players master sprites quicker, though it doesn't meaningfully affect gameplay. Epic removed the Drum Gun, Ranger AR, and Tetris Rift from the loot pool for the duration. Fortnitemares 2026 content is only available for one month before transitioning to a mini season and likely a new map.
