VALORANT Champions 2026 disrupted by desk material issues
Technical issues from stage desk materials caused repeated wireless mouse disconnections at VALORANT Champions 2026.

VALORANT Champions 2026 matches were repeatedly paused due to wireless mouse interference caused by the metal framing of stage desks. Riot Games traced the daily technical disruptions to conductivity issues from the desk materials, forcing an immediate equipment change for competitors.
Impact on key matches and player performance
Critical group stage matches suffered from sudden mouse disconnections. The Group A advancement match between 100 Thieves and FUT Esports faced extended halts after the opening rounds.
A key moment occurred on the first map of that series. During a 2v1 scenario, FUT Esports player Yusuf 'xeus' Doğan Gözgen swung into a fight against Jordan 'vora' Pulwer while equipped with a Spectre. His wireless mouse failed, preventing him from firing his weapon. Xeus died, leading directly to a round loss. The round was not replayed, creating a momentum swing that favored 100 Thieves.
100 Thieves went on to take the map and the series 2-0. Altering peripheral setups mid-tournament can disrupt muscle memory, and such interference during key duels raises serious concerns about competitive integrity.
Riot's response and corrective actions
Tournament organizers promised a swift fix. Riot Games acknowledged the error in a statement, specifically addressing the incident between FUT and 100 Thieves. "The material of the desks caused conductivity issues," Riot said. The organization admitted that round 2 on Split should have been rolled back due to the interference.
Riot took responsibility for the error in not granting the rollback. However, the match result will stand. Officials decided overturning it would unfairly affect a team that competed under the same conditions and was not responsible for the error.
To minimize further disruption, Riot mandated that all players switch to wired mouse connections. Many competitors have already adopted wired mice. "A fix was immediately applied to prevent disruptions in subsequent matches," Riot stated. The permanent solution involves replacing the custom metal desks with ones made from a different material.
Timeline for resolution and upcoming stakes
The transition period is critical. The last elimination and advancement matches of the group stage are scheduled for October 2-4. Riot must fully deploy and test the new desks before the playoff stage kicks off on October 7.
VALORANT Champions represents the highest standard of competition for the game. The persistent technical issues mean the tournament has not yet met the expected standard for players or fans. Affected matches have already been played and their outcomes are officially cemented. FUT Esports will have to regroup before their lower bracket match with the winners of T1 vs JDG Gaming.
Riot's permanent desk replacements must be operational and reliable before the high-stakes elimination matches resume.
