Rockstar Games states the main story of GTA 6 takes about 80 hours to complete, with optional content extending playtime to over 100 hours.

Rockstar Games says the main storyline of GTA 6 takes roughly 80 hours to beat.
The Netflix extended gameplay showcase for GTA 6 revealed new details about the game, and Rockstar Games provided specific information about the story length.
Rob Nelson, Rockstar Games co-studio head, revealed that it takes around 80 hours to just make it through the main storyline of GTA 6.
This includes just beating the necessary story missions to see the end credits roll, along with a few pieces of optional side content.
The main story of Rockstar’s last game, Red Dead Redemption 2, takes roughly 50 hours to complete, while GTA 5’s story takes around 30 hours to finish.
Leonida is 2x bigger than the GTA 5 map and 3x bigger than the RDR2 map, which contributes to the longer story length.
Players might spend around a dozen hours just getting from place to place during the course of the GTA 6 story.
GTA 6 could take players over 100 hours to finish if they decide to partake in optional side content.
If players partake in all side content and explore Leonida to the fullest, it could take 110-120 hours to fully beat the entire game.
80-100 hours to beat a game is quite the commitment, but GTA 6 will be worth the effort.
The full scale of GTA 6 has been revealed, and it will likely take players months to beat the main story.
The floodgates have been opened in Grand Theft Auto 6, as the extended gameplay look that premiered on Netflix has showcased a world of new details.
Once the gameplay showcase premiered, however, Rockstar Games revealed a slew of brand new information about the game.
This includes details about the story length of GTA 6, which gives us our first real indication of how long it will take to beat the game’s main campaign.
The Netflix extended gameplay showcase for GTA 6 has revealed a bunch of fresh information about the game, but Rockstar Games went into more details once the showcase went live.
According to Rockstar, the main storyline of GTA 6 takes roughly 80 hours to beat if you just complete story missions.
However, if you decide to complete optional side content and explore the map in its entirety, then you’re looking at a much longer time to beat.
There are likely numerous factors in why GTA 6’s story is so long, but we can attribute a lot of that length to the overall size of the Leonida map.
With so much area to cover, you might spend around a dozen hours just getting from place to place during the course of the GTA 6 story.
If we go beyond just the main story, though, GTA 6 could take players over 100 hours to finish if they decide to partake in optional side content.
This includes any side missions, mini-games/activities, and trying to escape the police with the revamped Wanted system in GTA 6.
Going even further, with the map as large as it is, if players partake in all side content and explore Leonida to the fullest, it could take 110-120 hours to fully beat the entire game.
This length is for the completionist type of players who don’t stop playing a game until every location has been visited, all map markers are completed, and every achievement has been obtained.
Even if you’re not a completionist, though, 80-100 hours to beat a game is quite the commitment.
From what we saw during the extended gameplay look on Netflix, however, it looks like GTA 6 will be worth the effort and more.
