A leaked gameplay trailer has revealed Project Comet, an unannounced free-to-play Marvel action RPG. The footage, which appeared online, showcases open-world exploration, four-player cooperative play, and a gacha-based character system, though neither Marvel nor developer Scopely has confirmed the project's existence.

The video provides the first substantial look at the game's mechanics and style. It features ten Marvel characters in action: Doctor Strange, Black Widow, Elektra, Spider-Man, Wolverine, War Machine, The Punisher, Scarlet Witch, Silver Samurai, and Blob. These heroes are seen exploring iconic locations like Nueva York, the X-Mansion, and the Sanctum Sanctorum. On-screen text lists the headline features as amazing Marvel environments to explore, a four-player co-op squad, authentic superhero powers, and an intense combat experience.

Combat combines basic attacks with cooldown-based special abilities and an ultimate move, a system familiar from titles like Marvel Future Fight. The game is an open-world experience where players can explore with any hero they choose. A team system allows for swapping characters in and out. Co-op missions support up to four players and can be replayed at higher difficulty levels for better rewards, drawing structural inspiration from the Marvel Ultimate Alliance series. Each character possesses a unique set of abilities.

Game confirmed as free-to-play ARPG with gacha mechanics

Project Comet is described as a free-to-play action RPG, not a turn-based game like Scopely's Marvel Strike Force. Its core progression involves a gacha system, reportedly similar to Genshin Impact, where players unlock heroes and villains through randomized acquisition. The leaked interface shows traditional mobile game controls, and the trailer itself was titled 'Marvel’s Comet Project Official Live Trailer'.

Earlier leaks also listed Captain America, Juggernaut, and Doctor Octopus among the roster, with more characters expected in the final game. The art style is noted to be similar to Marvel Rivals, with Wolverine's design being the most obvious match. Some reports indicate that artists who worked on Marvel Rivals are contributing to this project.

Platform details and developer background

Reports on target platforms differ. One states the game is coming to iOS, Android, and PC. Others say there is no mention of a PC version in the leaks, with an X account for the game describing it as an unannounced Marvel game in early development for iOS and Android. A closed test for mobile players was reportedly planned for June. A Scopely job listing has also been cited as pointing to a free-to-play release with PC cross-play support.

Scopely is identified as the likely developer. The studio is known for Marvel Strike Force, MONOPOLY GO!, and Star Trek Fleet Command. The leaked video was first discovered on the Chinese platform Bilibili, uploaded on October 2, 2026, before being re-shared on X and re-uploaded to YouTube. The trailer fades to black without a final title card, platform list, or release date.

Official status remains unconfirmed

Marvel and Scopely have not officially confirmed the game. The name 'Project Comet' is considered a codename, so the final title may differ. With the project still unannounced, its roster, mechanics, and platforms are all subject to change ahead of any official reveal.
