Karmine Corp swept MVK Esports 3-0 to win the Play-In final, securing Europe's third spot in the Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage

Karmine Corp secured their first-ever Swiss Stage spot with a decisive 3-0 victory over MVK Esports in the Worlds 2026 Play-In final. The win makes them Europe's third representative in the main event, which begins on October 23 in Allen, Texas.

The French organization entered the final qualification series undefeated in the Play-In Stage. They had previously sent MVK to the lower bracket with a win on October 16. MVK fought back, defeating Brazil's FURIA Esports 3-1 in the lower bracket to earn a rematch. The final, however, was one-sided. Karmine Corp dominated, closing Game 1 in 28 minutes with a 13-2 kill score and securing Game 2 with a 15,000 gold lead.

Swiss Stage Pathway

The Swiss Stage runs from October 23 to 31 at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center. All initial matches are best-of-one, a format that head coach Reapered noted "leaves no room to recover from a slow start." Progression and elimination matches within the Swiss Stage are best-of-three. Karmine Corp will be one of 16 teams competing, with half advancing to the knockout bracket.

Tournament Structure and Stakes

The full tournament path is now set. The Swiss Stage will whittle the field down to eight teams for the single-elimination knockout stage, which begins on November 3. All knockout matches are best-of-five, culminating in the grand final at the Barclays Center in New York on November 14. The total prize pool is $5 million, with $1 million reserved for the champion.

Karmine Corp's opening opponent in the Swiss Stage is the formidable LPL Split 3 champion, Anyone's Legend. The two teams met this summer at the Esports World Cup in Paris, where KC emerged victorious. The opening round matchups for the Swiss Stage are as follows:

A Historic Milestone

This qualification marks a historic first for Karmine Corp. As Europe's third seed, they handled a tough Play-In bracket where every match was a best-of-five using the Fearless Draft format. Their journey included a tense five-game series against Cloud9 and the eventual sweep of MVK. For MVK Esports, the run ends with a 17th-place finish and $50,000 in prize money, while FURIA, whom they defeated twice, earned $40,000.

Jungler Yike, who was named MVP for the final, acknowledged the team's potential for growth. He felt the team was playing at around 80% of its peak. Looking ahead, he also expressed a desire for revenge against Bilibili Gaming, who eliminated him at his two previous World Championships, and noted Team Liquid, who beat KC at the Mid-Season Invitational.

The format of the Swiss Stage, where rematches are not allowed, means facing a top team like Anyone's Legend early could remove a major threat from later rounds. For Karmine Corp, the immediate task is clear. They will face Anyone's Legend in their opening Swiss Stage match on October 23.
