The PGL Masters Bucharest 2026 tournament runs from October 24 to 31 with 16 teams competing for a $1.25 million prize pool

The PGL Masters Bucharest 2026 tournament schedule and prize pool are set for October 24-31, with 16 Counter-Strike teams battling for a $1.25 million total purse. This studio event in Romania is the last major Counter-Strike 2 LAN before the Singapore Major invites are locked, making every match critical for teams chasing VRS points before the November 2 cut-off. Nine of the world's top ten ranked teams are participating, though Team Falcons declined their invite.

The event uses a Swiss-stage group phase where all matches are best-of-three. Teams need three wins to advance to the eight-team, single-elimination playoff bracket. Three losses send a team home. There is no rest day between the Swiss stage and the playoffs. The playoff matches are also best-of-three, except for the best-of-five grand final. A third-place match will also be played.

Teams and regional qualifiers

Sixteen teams, including regional qualifiers from Europe, North America, South America, and Asia, will compete. Team Spirit received a direct invitation based on their July 6 VRS ranking. The full list of opening Swiss Stage matches is:

Matchup
Aurora vs The MongolZ
FUT vs TYLOO
Spirit vs BetBoom
MOUZ vs Liquid
Vitality vs 9z
Legacy vs Nemiga
G2 vs NAVI
FURIA vs DENDELE

G2 vs NAVI is the biggest opening-round name clash. An 0-1 start is a real risk for whichever side drops that match. The MongolZ, who won 1win Private Club Season 2 this week in their first event with nin9, are open against Aurora. NAVI is desperate to qualify for the PGL Singapore Major and has the only record of attending every Valve-supported Counter-Strike Major.

Key storylines and player debuts

Several teams have significant narratives. SunPayus makes his debut as FUT's AWPer after a three-week roster change, while Vitality plays with jL as a stand-in for their missing in-game leader, Dan 'apEX' Madesclaire. Team Spirit, the world's top-ranked team and predicted tournament winner, enters after a fourth-place finish at ESL Pro League Season 24. Their key player, Danil 'donk' Kryshkovets, holds a 1.37 rating over the last three months.

FURIA, who won TWC and delivered a retirement-year trophy for Gabriel 'FalleN' Toledo, may recapture their 2025 form. Their opponent, BETBOOM, the world's ninth-ranked team, approaches after a second-place finish at Thunderpick World Championship 2026. BETBOOM's Magnojez has a 1.12 rating over the same period. Spirit hold a 1:0 map advantage in head-to-head meetings, with a 13:5 victory over BETBOOM at IEM Cologne Major 2026.

Prize pool and stakes

The $1.25 million prize pool is split evenly, with $625,000 for players and $625,000 for clubs. The champion receives $225,000 in prize money and a $225,000 club share. PGL said, "The last big Counter-Strike 2 LAN before the Singapore Major invites are locked starts on Saturday."

The action begins with the Swiss-stage matches, starting with Aurora vs The MongolZ on the first day of the tournament.
