Pokémon UNITE Shutdown Date Set for March 2027
Pokémon UNITE will end service globally on March 23, 2027, with its final esports event, the Aeos Crown 2027 tournament in Tokyo, concluding competition two days prior.

Pokémon UNITE will shut down on March 23, 2027. The Pokémon Company announced the service will end at 00:00 UTC that day, ceasing all online operations for the nearly seven-year-old game on Nintendo Switch and mobile platforms. The game's final official competition, the Aeos Crown 2027 tournament, will be held in Tokyo just two days before the servers go dark.
"Pokémon UNITE will end service on Tuesday 23 March 2027 at 00:00 UTC," the company stated. The announcement was made on October 27, 2026, confirming the game's absence from the 2027 Pokémon World Championships schedule. All sales of the premium Aeos Gem currency and new UNITE Club memberships were halted immediately at 05:00 UTC that same day.
Final competitive event details
The Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo finals will conclude more than five years of official Pokémon UNITE esports. The tournament is scheduled for March 20 and 21, 2027, featuring up to 32 teams. Qualification slots are allocated across major regions, with the finals using an 'All-Star Draft' ruleset for all matches.
| Region | Invitation Slots |
|---|---|
| North America | 4 |
| Japan | 4 |
| Europe | 3 |
| Brazil | 3 |
| Latin America North | 3 |
| APAC West (via LCQ) | 1 |
| APAC East (via LCQ) | 1 |
Japan's contingent will include ZETA DIVISION, the 2026 World Champion. Two Last Chance Qualifiers will award the final slots. No general admission seating will be available for the Tokyo event, with matches streamed live on official channels in multiple languages.
Service termination mechanics
The game entered a sunset status on November 12, 2026. A final in-game event will run until the March 23 shutdown, featuring a Grand Shop Sale. Players can obtain past items like Holowear and Trainer Fashion at discounts of up to 80 percent. The shop has now closed for new purchases.
All announced events will proceed as planned until the closure. The North American International Championships will move to Chicago in 2027, but Pokémon UNITE will not be part of it. The game will cease to exist online regardless of player spending.
Legacy preservation
A farewell update arrived on November 12, 2026. It added a final event where players could trade Unite coins for legacy items like Unite licenses and Holowear. More importantly, it introduced a 'library' mode to preserve records and cosmetics after shutdown.
This feature requires a one-time data download before March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC. Once downloaded, players can view stats and achievements offline, but the library data cannot be transferred between devices. There are no plans to introduce an offline version of the game itself. Players must download the library feature before March 23, 2027 at 00:00 UTC to preserve records and content.
