Team Liquid Sweeps LPL Top Seed at Worlds 2026
Team Liquid eliminated Anyone's Legend 2-0 at Worlds 2026, ending the LPL's 13-match Swiss Stage win streak and marking the first time a Chinese top seed has been swept at the tournament since 2013.

Team Liquid swept Anyone's Legend 2-0 in a best-of-three Swiss Stage elimination match at the 2026 League of Legends World Championship. The victory ended the Chinese top seed's campaign with a 0-3 record, preserving Liquid's own tournament hopes ahead of a decisive series. This marks the first time an LPL top seed has been swept at Worlds since the league's establishment in 2013.
Anyone's Legend entered the series as China's top seed but finished the Swiss Stage winless. They had previously lost best-of-one matches to Karmine Corp and Top Esports. Team Liquid's win was their first of the Swiss Stage after an 0-2 start, having lost earlier to CTBC Flying Oyster and Bilibili Gaming. The official LoL Esports account celebrated Team Liquid's victory after the final Nexus fell.
Swiss Stage context and elimination mechanics
The Swiss Stage format requires three match wins to advance to the Knockout Stage and eliminates teams with three losses. Anyone's Legend and Team Secret Whales were the first two teams eliminated from Worlds 2026. Each eliminated team received US$90,000 from a US$5,000,000 prize pool. The event is being held at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, Texas.
Game details from the series highlight the swings in momentum. In Game 1, which lasted 33 minutes and 13 seconds, Team Liquid controlled dragons and built a gold lead of more than 14,000. Morgan's Camille landed a hard engage that led to an ace, with CoreJJ's Nami roaming top to assist. Morgan finished with a 7/1/6 KDA on Camille. Game 2 was a 47-minute affair where Shanks' Annie won several objective fights for Anyone's Legend early. A turning point came when Team Liquid took Baron after Annie was caught out during the Soul fight. Yeon's Xayah played a key part in securing the result for Liquid.
Liquid's playoff positioning and upcoming challenge
Team Liquid's series record improved to 1-2 and their game record to 2-2 after the sweep. They remain one loss away from elimination. Their next match is a must-win against LOS, the Brazilian representative, scheduled for Friday, October 30 at 1:00 pm PT / 9:00 pm CET. The winner advances to Round 5 and stays in contention for the quarterfinals.
LOS eliminated Team Secret Whales earlier with a 2-0 win. The Swiss Stage began on October 24 and will conclude on October 31, with Round 4 running from October 28 to 30. Dplus KIA and Gen.G have already secured their quarterfinal spots with 3-0 records. This victory broke a 13-series losing streak for the LCS against the LPL and was celebrated as Western teams have struggled against LPL and LCK teams for years. Dot Esports noted, "Such an exit had no precedent for a Chinese top seed at Worlds."
Team Liquid earned the LCS first seed by beating LYON 3-1 in the 2026 Summer grand final on October 4. Their next series against LOS on October 30 is a must-win to keep their playoff hopes alive.
